In somewhat surprising news, Dior has named a new ambassador: Mila Kunis. The actress will appear in the Spring campaign shot by Mikael Jansson for Lady Dior handbags (which Marion Cotillard also fronts). The actress–who self-identifies as a t-shirts and jeans girl–confirmed the strangeness to WWD:
“I’m honestly just learning about fashion. In my daily life, I don’t wear the most feminine pieces. But I love to feel feminine when I’m on the red carpet. I find that Dior is an incredibly grounded house. I always thought what Dior does is so sophisticated, feminine and beautiful.”
Kunis joins Dior’s current stable of actresses including Cotillard, Charlize Theron, Charlize Theron, Mélanie Laurent, and, interestingly, her Black Swan co-star Natalie Portman, who has a beauty contract. Although we think Kunis is lovely, we find her an odd choice for Dior. Doesn’t she seem like a better fit for a younger brand like, say, Miu Miu? A fancy denim campaign?
