If there’s one thing rich people hate, it’s being reminded that they’re not as rich as someone else. And that’s exactly what happened when the Duchess formerly known as Kate Middleton and her family decided to vacation at Mustique, an exclusive island on the Caribbean.
The Daily Mail reports that the arrival of the Middletons resulted in other guests being questioned by Kate’s security team and denied access to the island’s “souped-up golf carts” if they want to get around. The reason, said officials, was that some wily individual might try to snap a photo of the family:
A security source on the island said the new arrangements had been put in place after discussions with the Duchess’s British team of bodyguards.
‘The concern isn’t crime,’ the source said. ‘It is that visitors might try to take photos of the VIPs who are here on their phones.’
Guests, who are rich, are understandably offended:
One local millionaire, who asked not to be named, said: ‘This isn’t exactly the way one expects to be treated when you pay very good money to visit the most exclusive island in the Caribbean.’
