A Walk Down Memory Lane With Some British Vogue Covers

British Vogue now has all of their vintage covers online for your viewing pleasure. As you probably know, the very late 80′s and most of the the 90′s was the era of the supermodel, or rather, the era to first embrace the term. Models all of a sudden went from being just beautiful faces with beautiful bodies in our favorite magazines, but to actual people that everyone, not even just diehard fashionistas, could recognize and easily name.

The photo of above is from July 1989 and features a very young Carré Otis as the covergirl. Supposedly this cover is Helena Christensen‘s absolute favorite cover shot ever.

Although I just picked seven of my absolute favorites, if this selection doesn’t rock your boat, then head directly to British Vogue‘s site and get your fix there.

Is it just me, or was there far less airbrushing back-in-the-day? I can’t tell if it’s a era thing or a US vs. UK thing.

The water shot is pretty, but I don’t know if it adds anything compared with Harold Conant’s famous photograph of Grace Kelly.
