As you have no doubt heard by now, Halle Berry and smokeshow Olivier Martinez announced their engagement over the weekend. Berry flaunted her ring soon after, and as you can see from the obviously not doctored at all image above, it’s emerald instead of the traditional diamond.
I think it’s lovely and understated, especially because it’s not like Halle Berry needs a status symbol. Although according to People, the ring’s worth isn’t in its weight in gemstones but in its eery similarities to the title piece of jewelry in “The Lord of the Rings”:
“The ring is textured and contains codes and symbols which you cannot see … only the person wearing it can,” the jeweler says. “It’s very uncommon. The symbols and codes represent [the couple's] story and only they can interpret it.”
One ring to bind them, indeed.
