Oh Karl Lagerfeld! After all that Adele business, I was a little concerned that you would start to watch what you said. I thought we might miss out on those wonderful moments of fashion history when you continuously berated people for consuming anything other than Diet Coke.
I’m so happy to learn that my worry was without merit.
At a Chanel exhibit in Tokyo, Japan, the Mr. Lagerfeld took the time not just to honor the Japanese people for enduring the horrible tsunami a year ago, but to comment on their diet choices.
“I noticed that people became bigger than before because now they eat more cake and sweets and things like this that they didn’t do in the past. There’s a real change in the look of the Japanese people. Normally, before, they were all tiny. It’s the kind of beauty you get from junk food,” he said.
Always one to point out the way things should be done, Karl let everyone know how his own diet worked within Japanese culture. “You know I don’t eat bread, I don’t eat sugar, I don’t eat meat, so for me, the Japanese kitchen is perfect,” he said.
I’m just so glad to see that a little controversy didn’t convince the Kaiser to change. Never change, Karl! We love you just the way you are.
