Jennifer Lawrence Looks Very Un-Hunger Games On The Cover Of German Interview

Do you know who Jennifer Lawrence is? If not, you’re probably about to, as she’s the star of this movie called The Hunger Games everyone is talking about, which as far as I can tell is basically a Disney-fied version of Battle Royale. (Which is itself, in turn, a Disney-fied version of the incredibly fucked up Japanese manga series, of which I own the complete set.) To help promote The Hunger Games, its Lawrence is doing a ton of press, one piece of which is a cover story for the April issue of German Interview.

I don’t know about you, but I almost didn’t recognize her when I saw it, because the only other photos I’d seen of her were of her playing a 16-year-old who looks like this:

Different, right? Quite different. But seeing as she’s 21 years old in real life, I guess it bears reminding people that she can play sexy, grown-up ladies.

And just for funsies, let’s feed German Interview’s paragraph about her cover story into Google translate:

The April issue of Interview!

The actress Jennifer Lawrence draws in Hollywood for the most important battle of the year. In a conversation with her colleague, Drew Barrymore tells Lawrence that she would like to Brigit Jones, is excited for Hulk Hogan and what they are from the first big check for her starring role in – wants to make “The Hunger Games The Hunger Games”: a pool full of pasta.

Indeed.

Sorry to correct, but Battle Royale is based on the Japanese novel from 1999 written by Koushun Takami. The manga came out after the movie and is a bit more gory and sexually explicit than the novel or movie, which wasn’t too Disney-fied when compared to the original novel.

PS: I am completely jealous of the fact that you have the full set of manga.
