Yesterday, we found out that the gun wielded by Pippa Middleton’s friend while the two were in a car together in Paris was fake. Now, her Parisian host (who was not the person holding the toy gun) has taken another step and issued a public apology to her and to the world, at large. According to People.com, Arthur de Soultrait had the following to say:
“Last Saturday, I was in a car with Philippa Middleton, and we were being followed by paparazzi.
“She had been subject to constant and dangerous harassment by paparazzi throughout her time in Paris. The car was being driven by a friend of mine, whom Pippa had only met a few hours before. As a joke, my friend brandished a toy pistol in their direction.
“Obviously Philippa had no idea that he was going to do that and told him to stop immediately. She did not find it funny.
“I regret enormously that this incident happened, and especially that Pippa has been subject to the subsequent attention through no fault of her own. I have apologized to her for this.”
Is it just me, or do you also like the formality of his use of Pippa’s real name? Just saying. Anyway, looks like this is about to blow over for Pippa, at least. I guess that’s what happens when you rouse the beast that is the British royal family’s PR machine.
