Poll: Do You Think Kate Middleton Is Princess-y Enough?

In an interview with The Daily Beast, shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood made a remark about Kate Middleton that’s slowly making it’s way around the internet today. He said that he doesn’t think the newly minted royal is princess-y enough:

She just wears too much high street stuff. I know she’s trying to be democratic, but I don’t know how many pairs of LK Bennett you can wear. She does occasionally come out and is wearing [Alexander] McQueen or something like that. It’s like, ‘Do that more! You’re meant to be a princess-y type of person, so act like one!’”

We’re assuming that by “you’re meant to be a princess-y type of person,” what Kirkwood was trying to say was, “you actually are a Duchess.”

Regardless, I kind of like that Middleton keeps it real. I’d like to say that if I were in her place, I’d look like Lady fucking Gaga every day just because I could, but the reality is that I would probably want to wear sweatpants and a scrunchie all the time just as much as I do now. I’m a casual type of gal, and I think Kate is too. So I don’t begrudge her her high street clothes; rather, I say, Kate, you just do you, and fuck the haters.

What do you think?

Sorry! This poll is now closed.

No, I’m sorry. I’m going to need to see a hoop skirt.

      Ha, perfect.

Is she really dressed THAT differently from Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, or from Zara Phillips? You can’t compare her to Princess Anne or the Queen, because she’s from a completely different generation. Kate is well dressed at official functions, which is really all that matters.

I like that she’s a Duchess, a commoner, not an aristocrat – she’s a reflection of Diana’s influence on Wills.
