January Jones’ Cocktail Dress: How Do You Feel?

January Jones wore the above Mary Katrantzou cocktail dress to a La Revolution Bleue screening in New York last night, and she’s been generating quite a bit of buzz about it this morning on the wardrobe deconstructor known as the Internet.

And as much as I love January, I’m afraid I’m going to have to jump on board. She looks like a cross between a tea kettle and a demonic butterfly. Normally I think Jones can pull off most things, but it’s tough for anyone to make a four-tiered gothic wedding cake into a workable dress for the red carpet.

I was thinking the top part looked like a cat doing a “yuck” face. Maybe this is a Rorschach test type of thing. I wonder what that says about me…

“yuck, these are ugly curtains”, said the cross-eyed cat.

Haha, totally. And yes, I’m sure it’s a test. She’s no doubt busy analyzing all of our personalities even as we speak. Well played as usual, January.

If she tucked those flaps under her arms, I would be mostly ok with this dress.

I think if it had just the funny arms, or just the double skirt thingy, it would be passable. The two of them together makes it a little too much.

I like it but I probably wouldn’t wear it myself. It’s a statement piece and she’s kept the rest of the outfit quite understated so I think it works.

Oh, the whole “winged cat on a tea cozy” look. A bit cliche, don’t you think, Ms. Jones?

I lol’ed. It really is so predictable.

100% fuglyious. There’s statement pieces, and then there’s, “let’s just make this thing as busy as possible and call it a statement piece.”
