Natalia Vodianova’s 6-Year-Old Daughter Lands A Modeling Contract

A couple months ago, Cindy Crawford‘s 10-year-old daughter Kaia Gerber snagged a Versace campaign and we pondered whether or not she was too young. Soon after, Gisele Bundchen‘s niece launched a clothing collection and started modeling. This week, supermodel Natalia Vodianova upped the ante by casting her 6-year-old daughter in a campaign benefiting the Naked Heart Foundation.

Neva–Vodianova’s daughter with her now ex-husband Justin Portman–nails that steely model expression in the campaign (above) which shows her wearing a red crocheted gown and collar by fancy kids label Caramel Baby and Child. The pieces are in collaboration with Vodianova’s charity, the Naked Heart Foundation, which builds playgrounds for underprivileged kids in Russia. Half the proceeds from the dress (£225) and collar (£45) benefit the foundation.

So. Does Vodianova get a pass because it’s a long way off from Versace and a charitable cause… or is six still a little too young for this kind of thing?

That’s fine! From what it sounds like the kid isn’t getting huge profits from this campaign, if anything at all. Who can model children’s clothing if not children? This Neva girl looks normal (besides the slightly demonic ice-cold eyes) she’s not “sexualised” and it’s for charity. No worries!

honestly, I don’t find the idea nearly as creepy as those fake birds in the photo.

How are any of these different than any other child modeling job?

I’d be more than happy to make the argument that all child modeling is bad.
