Silly Ladies, Christian Louboutin Isn’t Trying To Hurt You Or Your Tootsies

I mean, he doesn’t actually care if you’re comfortable, but he isn’t designing footwear with the intentional purpose of destroying your feet. The destruction is just a byproduct. It’s collateral damage.

In trying to clear up all the nonsense surrounding his less-than-orthopedic footwear, Christian Louboutin told Vogue UK:

“I have been misquoted. People say I am the king of painful shoes. I don’t want to create painful shoes, but it is not my job to create something comfortable. I try to make high heels as comfortable as they can be, but my priority is design, beauty and sexiness. I’m not against them, but comfort is not my focus.”

See, he’s doing the best he can. There’s really only so much comfort to be gleaned from 5-inch stiletto heels. He’s not a miracle worker, he’s an artist.

I own a pair of Louboutins, and I have to say they’re not uncomfortable from the height as much as their are from the width. I have the exact shoe pictured above, minus spikes and plus patent leather, and they’re just insanely narrow. I honestly think they’d be comfy if not for the narrow aspect. I have pretty average feet, to the point where I can order heels online and they just fit. His shoes are SO narrow, they’re designed for tall skinny people with long skinny feet. I even got them stretched, and it didn’t work! They’re so pretty though, I’m willing to deal with it.
