Let’s Talk About The Word ‘Fingerbang,’ Shall We?

I first heard the term “fingerbang” when I saw Welcome to the Dollhouse. At the time, I had no idea what it meant and just assumed it was something that was a lingo way over my head that I’d understand later in life. I did understand it by the time I was 15.

Personally, I think the word is hysterical. The amount of times I’ve used it in a sexual moment just to get a laugh, are endless. Sometimes I get my laugh, sometimes I hear crickets which then leads me to explaining that the term is fucking hysterical and should evoke massive amounts of laughter. Just saying it out loud has me rolling over in stitches, and wondering how I can use it more often. “Quit ‘fingerbanging’ the pizza and just eat it already!” “If you ‘fingerbang’ my apple one more time, there will be fisticuffs!” See?

But now a friend of mine (this actually is a friend and not me trying to disguise myself, as we all know I’d just say ‘me’) is dating a fella who uses this word seriously. The poor girl can’t go anywhere with him without him telling her how he wants to fingerbang her all over town. He’s not saying it to make a funny, but this is his idea of “dirty talk.” Not only does she find the word vulgar, but she also finds him ridiculous for saying it.

So let’s discuss this: what are our feelings on the word “fingerbang?” Vulgar? Funny? A word you definitely want to hear and/or use during sexy times or what? You let me know while I go “fingerbang” my sandwich.

I think as long as you fingerbang stuff (like sandwiches) that’s perfectly fine. Fingering a woman is both terminologically ridiculous as well as physically unpleasant for her. Is there any woman who likes a guys fingernails in her vagina? That’s what penises are for!

Some do some don’t. I really don’t get why people assume that because they don’t like something, that means everyone else doesn’t either.

    • Danielle

It may be unpleasant for some, but definitely not for most. Most women I know enjoy it when it’s done correctly, and after she’s properly prepared/turned on. And if it’s done correctly and the guy’s fingernails are properly groomed, then the nails shouldn’t even be touching the vagina.

  • Georgia

Vulgar if used seriously but hilarious as a word.

  • Ms. Pants

    Hilarious. It’s HI-LAR-IOUS!

I wouldn’t like it during dirty talk– I think “fingering” sounds sexier. Also, “fingerbang” implies that the dude is using his finger as if it were a dick? Like, just sticking it straight in & out, which is a fingering tactic that I personally do not find enjoyable? (Unless it’s done so enthusiastically that it actually FEELS like a dick. But still, then I’d call it “fingerfucking” not “fingerbanging.”)

So, uhhh…in conclusion, that guy your friend is with sounds ridiculous.

  • Brianna

Hilarious, I don’t know why but it is. Unless someone is saying it seriously, but even then I’d still probably laugh.

As a word, it’s hysterical. However, anyone who said they want to do that to me automatically comes off as someone who has no clue how to touch a vag. Like, all the know how to do is jam their fingers in and out. No thank you.

caroline- you’re crazy. send them my way.

I’m really disappointed that included no mention of the South Park episode where Cartman starts a boyband called Fingerbang.

Ah! I’m really disappointed in myself for having forgot that! Thanks for the link!

That was the first thing I though of too! I can’t read that word without hearing “I’m gonna fingerbang bang you into my life”

  • Amy

Definitely not sexy, but hilarious when used in storytelling ie “..and then we hid under the coats and I fingerbanged her until the pizza guy showed up.” Or something to that effect.

I didn’t hear the term “fingerbang” til a few years ago–when I was in college, it was just “fingering.” Although a fantastic play I saw a few months ago has a hilarious scene where a brother and sister talk about “fingerblasting”–I feel like that term better describes the actual act, haha.

  • James

Yes sexual slang can often be funny or crude depending on when you use it or who is using it or how the person hearing it feels about it.

I never cared for the term, but reading this thread has ruined the act for me. Fingernails… ugh

I invited a guy friend over for a one-on-one hangout for the first time (we’d hung out with other people for years!) and I put on the Fingerbang episode of South Park. The next day, over MSN chat he asked me if I had been hinting at something because of it. WTF?! Who would do that? How could he think I was subtly hitting on him by playing it!?
