Gurl‘s ‘Sexy Times’: The Pill

The pill. Sometimes you need the extra protection of taking some form of it along with using condoms so you can fully enjoy sex without the concern of possibly getting preggers. It also, for some, helps with cramps and lessens what could possibly be a monstrous flow when you have your period. But if you’re still under your mother’s thumb (yes, this is for our younger readers), exactly how do you ask your mom for it? Well, Sara Hoots of Gurl‘s “Sexy Times“ is about to give you the 411 on the deal.

Personally, I was put on the pill for crazy, painful cramps at 16 — long before I started having sex — so I never had to have that awkward conversation, but I imagine it must suck for a lot of girls at that age to have to ask their mom for it. But as Hoots points out, and I want to ignore this fact, moms have sex too (thanks for that image!), and on top of that, they might even have some advice to give on the subject. So get your thoughts in order, your mind ready to handle the discussion and if it means several practice rounds in the mirror, go for it. If you want to be extra safe when you’re having sex, you’re going to have to sit down and have the heart to heart with mom eventually.
