Shopping Guide: Everything You Need For Your Own Fifty Shades Of Grey

Fifty Shades of Grey is getting all kinds of stuff: a movie, probably, but also lingerie and home wares? WHY ARE THESE A THING?

I’m seriously torn between feeling mildly pleased some women are enjoying being open about their sexual preferences because of this, and wondering whether the mainstream acceptance of this book, and lauding of the author as one of the most influential people worldwide in 2012, doesn’t mark the start of our civilisation’s path towards something resembling the Gor novels.

I mean that’s KIND OF an exaggerration, but all cultural shifts start somewhere, and often with a book that speaks to and unifies a previously untapped mass desire…

The message I’ve had from this stuff is not so much ‘admit to your sexual preferences’ as ‘women are secretly submissive’. John Norman would either be proud or sue.

Now, onto Bella Swan of Gor. This is the most appropriate crossover of all time, and should be written as soon as possible. Bonus points for showing Edward at odds with Gorean macho culture.
