101 Books 100 Times Better Than Fifty Shades Of Grey

books to read

Now, in chart form!

The recommendations on this list are pretty stellar (if you haven’t done so please, please, please read The Great Gatsby before the movie version comes out and you’re left wondering why there isn’t more dancing in moving vehicles in the book). You should check out the entire chart here - it’s just fun.

Which one do you get first? I got Rebecca which, I mean, I like Rebecca, but I think there should be a third option – Bonfire of the Vanities? - because The Great Gatsby is about old and new money. So, that.

Also! I wanted to avoid making any “books you should be reading at the beach lists” but, if you happen to stumble into the science fiction portion of this chart and think it is your jam, When She Woke is an incredibly vivid, intriguing read that’s like The Handmaid’s Tale meets The Scarlet Letter. It’s set in the future. Colored bodies are involved. Here. Go buy it here. Don’t ask too many questions.

Actually – what are you reading? At the beach? Got any good dystopian female-centric fiction or stories relating to old money? Share them here! 101 picks suggested by Teach.com is clearly not enough! More books! Share all your favorite books! Unless one of them is Fifty Shades of Grey.

My absolute favorite books are the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. Epic fantasy with insanely complex, awesome characters. Think Tolkien but better! IT’S INSANE read it! The last book comes out in January. Start with ‘The Eye of The World”
I’m reading ‘The Queen’s Captive’ right now, but I’ve been too busy lately to really get into it yet. It’s about how some ficticious (with appearances from actual historical figues) people helped dethrone Queen Mary of England in the 16th century to make Princess Elizabeth Queen. I’ll let you know if it turns out to be good.
I have a week vacation the week after next, I so hope I’ll be able to read a few books!

I really want to check out ‘the elegance of the universe’ after seeing this

50 Shades has got to be one of the worst books every written in EVERY way possible. I wish the damn thing would die but, unfortunately, it still seems to be growing. I think less of people who enjoy the series. UGH!

I know! I’m halfway through the first book, which I’ll finish, but there’s no way in hell I’m going to be able to read two more. I wanted to read it out of curiosity and to be in the loop, I just really can’t comprehend how people can say they “can’t put it down” and it’s “such a good read.”
