Well if this isn’t a lovely occurrence to go along with our Bastille Day preparation week!
One of France’s most talented and stunning actresses, Marion Cotillard, will find her face everywhere on newsstands in just a matter of a couple weeks. Both Vogue and Vogue Paris, as well as Marie Claire UK, will be featuring the French beauty on their covers just in time for the July 20th premiere of The Dark Knight Rises, in which she plays Miranda Tate.
Since seeing La Vie En Rose, I’ve been mildly obsessed with Cotillard. Not just because of her breathtaking beauty that forces me to hear Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away” from Top Gun in my head every time I see her, but because she is one of the best actresses of her generation. It was her dead-on performance of tortured French songstress, Edith Piaf, that made everyone sit up and take notice — she also won the Oscar that year for her role in the exquisitely heartbreaking film.
Although The Dark Knight Rises is bound to be amazing as is, having Cotillard on board to add some French flavor to the cast will be like the icing on the cake of it all. Between her character and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as police office John Blake, on top of the usual cast of characters, it looks to be a fantastic summer movie (I refuse to write “blockbuster.”)
