Gallery: Check Out These Amazing Soviet Teen Glamor Shots From The ’80s

The wonderful blog English Russia recently scanned in some photos from the Soviet era teen magazine “Sverstnitsa,” which the blog translates to “peer girl.” They’re all taken from issues that came out in 1989, and constitute a wonderful snapshot of how Soviet teens used to dress when they wanted to look fancy. Try as they might, those mean communist leaders could not keep out the influence of the west, as you can see from the girls’ New Wave haircuts, stone washed denim, and shiny, shiny everything. I also appreciate their pin-up poses.
