Ugh.
Remember a while back when someone made Louis Vuitton condoms and charged Louis Vuitton prices for them? Now, someone else has managed to go even more tasteless and slap the iconic monogram all over a damn firearm. Machine Gun Las Vegas–”where the ultra lounge meets the gun range”–are the perpetrators this time, with a regrettably-timed press release about their brand new (unofficial, obviously) Louis Vuitton gun.
Reports Refinery29:
Two days after the Aurora shootings, we received a press release from an indoor gun range in Las Vegas heralding its newest handgun available for use. Plastered with Murakami-era Louis Vuitton logos, the handgun grip “cater[s] to gun enthusiasts who also have a desire to look stylish. Like Marc Jacobs putting Sponge Bob Square Pants [sic] onto LV monogrammed bags, Machine Guns Vegas has created their own Louis Vuitton accessory — a monogrammed Louis Vuitton grip for a handgun — which is legal to carry in the state of Nevada.”
Yes, putting a designer logo on a deadly weapon is exactly like Marc Jacobs putting a cartoon character on a fucking handbag.
The real Louis Vuitton would like to say they are “in no way associated with this company. We do not manufacture gun grips and do not condone the alteration of our creations in any way.” Enjoy it while it lasts, Machine Gun Las Vegas, because a cease and desist is almost certainly headed your way.
What’s crazier is that they aren’t the first ones to have this terrible idea.
