Fashion Disasters: Cate Blanchett NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Cate Blanchett attended the launch party for Gotham Magazine’s summer issue in New York City last night. Blanchett, in our opinion, is one of best dressed women in Hollywood; maybe anywhere. That said, she’s not immune to bad fashion, either. Today, we’re pretty bummed to file her under Fashion Disasters. Perhaps, though, this look a bit too lackluster to be labeled a fullblown disaster?

We reckon this came about when a stylist thought, “Oh, it’s Givenchy. Perfect,” and that was all the thought that went into it. Unfortunately for lazy style bloggers everywhere, just because a look is head-to-toe Givenchy doesn’t mean it’s not awkward, uneven and kind of ugly (here it is in the 2013 Resort collection lookbook, similarly unremarkable). Blanchett paired Roger Vivier sandal/booties with the look, which really weighs it down.

One thing we must say, though, is:

This woman’s skin is luminous. Who needs Photoshop when you’ve got such a magnificent face?

Anyway, to the polls…

Sorry! This poll is now closed.

The woman doesn’t dress herself so obviously she pissed off her stylist. The separate pieces might be ok on their own but this particular combination is unbalanced. Luminous? Yes! Luminous primer, luminous concealer, luminous foundation, luminous powder, luminous lighting, a luminous makeup artist with luminous tools standing no more than a foot away at all times… You’re right! Who needs Photoshop?

Well, I am fairly certain Cate is not a robot or mute, so I am sure she can voice what does and does not go on her body – also, I bet she owns a mirror. Easy to blame the stylist, but I’m going to go ahead and say there’s a little bit of ownership on several parties in this case. Regardless, I think that she carries herself so gracefully that I actually don’t think she looks bad at all.

Furthermore, if it were that easy to look facially flawless everyone would look like that. At least in Hollywood – again, not the case. Cate Blanchett most certainly has an excellent make up team for sure, but it is evident that she is beautiful and *luminous* in her own right.

Let me guess: you’re a miserable, frustrated, lonely, and pathetic individual with no life and no prospects, and instead of doing something constructive about it you choose instead to attack people you don’t know and who have done nothing to you. Or anything terrible at all except breathe and live their lives. I suggest you try getting a life, or at least a hobby. You’ll be a lot happier that way.
P.S. No amount of makeup or makeup expertise (or cosmetic surgery for that matter) can make someone’s skin look that good. Either you have good skin or you don’t. And you get good skin by taking care of yourself, which Ms. Blanchett obviously does. Judging by your jealously-laden diatribe, I am going to assume you don’t have good skin. Sucks to be you. Get over it.
