Inevitable Things: Alexa Chung Is Designing Her Own Line

Chung attends the Fall 2013 Chanel show at PFW

Today, in things that have been portended for years: It Girl and Style Icon Alexa Chung has formally announced she’s designing her own fashion line. She’s nabbed the cover of Numero Tokyo’s October issue and, in the accompanying interview, she confirms what everyone saw coming:

“I’ve got nothing to lose, it’s a bit of fun. In this current era of celebrity no one believes you actually design the stuff anyway, even though I sketch everything myself. So if it sucks I can say I had nothing to do with it, and if it’s really good I can say ‘Here are the drawings, it’s all my own work!”

She comes off as pretty charming here! Although we can never write something about Alexa Chung without linking to that thing full of our feelings about her, it doesn’t take a whole lot beyond self-awareness and a sense of humor to be likeable. Perhaps we can one day use “designer” as her epithet, instead of the outright meaningless “It Girl.”

I thought this had happened already… It’s possible my brain just added it as something she’d have probably done.
