Astonishingly Racist ‘Peanut Throwing Incident’ At The Republican National Convention

Two attendees at the Republican National Convention were ejected from the convention center on Tuesday after 1) throwing nuts at a black CNN camerawoman and 2) saying, “this is how we feed the animals.”

CNN confirmed that something real bad happened, but said only “there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.” Journalist David Shuster was more direct:

Shuster’s since gone into a little more detail.

The convention released an official statement saying, “Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated.”

There are racists, sexists and assholes of every political persuasion, but this is shockingly awful.

I hope we find out who these two people actually were. Perhaps someone who witnessed the incident knows and will speak up.

BTW, the camera operator’s name is Patricia Carroll. Here’s something about how she herself feels about it:

“I hate that it happened, but I’m not surprised at all.”

      My god, that’s depressing.
