Man Faked His Own Death To Propose

fake death proposal

In fun news today, people are awful. A man wanted to show his girlfriend what life would be like without him, so he faked his own death. The Orange reports that:

Alexey Bykov, 30, from Omsk, hired a movie director, stuntmen, make-up artists, and even a script writer to stage a bogus car crash.

He then arranged to meet girlfriend Irena Kolokov at the crash site so she would be convinced he was dead.

“We’d arranged to meet at a certain place but when I arrived there were mangled cars everywhere, ambulances, smoke, and carnage,” said Miss Kolokov.

“Then when I saw Alexy covered in blood lying in the road a paramedic told me he was dead and I just broke down in tears.”

And then, when he emerged, alive, Miss Kolokov smacked him, yelled at him for pulling such a terrifying trick and walked away. No! Kidding! That wouldn’t be a happy ending. He proposed and she accepted. Don’t worry, he had a good reason for all of that. Alexy said, “I wanted her to realize how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me.”

So. Let’s discuss in the comments what would constitute a more narcissistic proposal. You’re going to have to start, because I genuinely have no idea.

I have no idea, either. This is truly horrifying & I’d break up with anybody who did this.

What a douche! I’d be SO pissed.

  • L

narcissistic much?!?!?! what a fucking sack of shit.

  • Jen

I actually can’t think of a more narcissistic way to propose to someone. Good lord, girl, RUN AWAY.

  • Kj

In Soviet Russia….. You fake propose a fake care crash… fake car crash proposes you!

…Nope, got nothing. Not even communism can explain this one.

  • Kayte CookWatts

If she accepted, she’s just as stupid as he is.

  • Lily K.

She’s stupid to say yes. WTF?! I’d be so pissed off! She needs to get back at him somehow!

  • Meg

i’d say no to that. how hateful and mean.

  • Alle C

The only people who want others to realise that their lives would be worthless without them are toddlers and psychopaths. Toddlers don’t fake their own deaths. I’M JUST SAYING.

  • Elizabeth

Holy crap, WTF? Christ in a handbasket, whatever happened to getting down on one knee or something?

On the plus side, Jumbotron proposals seem less awful by comparison.

  • Meghan Keane

    Fuck. That. Guy.

  • Jez

    Wow. Get over yourself, guy.

Narcissistic and/or extremely insecure of his worth? Either way, I don’t have sympathy for him.

    And she said yes? Barf.

  • Ashley

If I were her, I’d only say yes just so I could fake MY own death at the wedding. What a jerk.

  • Shirley Turner

If anyone tried that with me he wouldn’t have to fake it anymore. Kidding, but that guy is a jerk!

  • Sarah

I would say no just because of those hideous red overalls he’s wearing.

  • S.L.E

The fact that he said : “I wanted her to realize how empty her life would be without me and how life would have no meaning without me.”
Would’ve made me been like hell no!!! I would be like really now. My life would have no meaning with out you. Huuullloooo!!!! I’m not the one who faked my own death! And then I would’ve left and never talked to him again . Like the whole thing would’ve been sooo sweet had he not said that.

  • Amy

Hell no! Maybe they’re both insane because if she can’t see the massive red flags waving here she’s living in a fantasy world. I just hope we’re not reading about her murder a year or two from now. Seriously. That guy has real problems.
