Girl Who Made Video About Severe Cystic Acne Now Modeling At New York Fashion Week

The world is not as awful as it could be!

Remember Cassandra Bankson, the girl who made a truly impressive YouTube video showing how she uses make-up to cover her cystic acne? Here’s that video again, just in case you missed it.

She’s now working as a professional model. According to the New York Post:

Modeling scouts at an agency in her native San Francisco were so impressed [by her video], they signed her up. She has since posed for brands including Bebe, Range Rover and the red-carpet designer Shekhar Rahate. She also became an ambassador for the cosmetics company Hourglass.

This year, she’s going to be walking the runway for the line Boy Meets Girl. She told The Post that this is a dream come true and that:

“I used to sit back and let acne ruin my life, but it got to the point where I needed to do something to get myself out of the rut….I am a different person from who I used to be because I’ve got so much more confidence now.”

Look, she’s a size 4 and 5’11, so it’s not as though the industry is changing entirely, but it’s nice to see people who aren’t traditionally, effortlessly flawless finding a place in the world of fashion. Good for you, Cassandra, for overcoming your insecurities, and good for you, beauty companies, for realizing that the best representative of your products is someone who actually uses them.

Um… the beauty company’s haven’t done anything. If she was accepted for who she is she could model without the make up. Also unless she goes outside and accepts herself without the make up then she is still just as insecure and will have trouble finding someone who accepts her without make up on.

Yeah, I’m not really on board with congratulating anyone accept Cassandra on this development. Pretty sure they are going to be completely covering any evidence of acne, so it doesn’t seem to be that accepting.

As someone who has had cystic acne, it really sucks balls. Not only do you feel like a monster, but it is really physically painful. Hurts to make facial expressions painful. Dear science: can we cure acne now? Please?

I suscribed to her channel a while ago and she mentioned that while in high school a friend of her took some pictures, she liked them and began pursuing a modeling carrer. So, I don’t think that she got contacted by a modeling agency because of her videos.

Anyways, she’s really pretty, she has improved her complexion and most of all i love her fresh, easy-going personality on camera. If she does runaways i think she’ll rock them, but i will still be eager to watch her latest video on youtube talking about perfume, makeup or even gross stuff.

She’s been modeling for some time as she talks about it often on her channel and shows her professional pics, gives tips & pointers on posing, creating a portfolio, etc. She describes herself as a model actually so although I’m sure the popularity of her YT channel helped her snag fashion week as YT has helped scores of vloggers reach national mention, the modeling thing itself is something she’s been doing. As for having cystic acne, I suffered with it due to my hormonal imbalance & tried tons of stuff but the acne no more regimen was the only thing that actually worked, even better than derm visits – for anyone needing some help.
