Why I Covet Blue Ivy’s Shoes

As we speak, I am sitting here wearing the same knock-off Uggs that I wrote about earlier this year. That’s right! There is no shame in this game. They are tattered, worn out, broke down and beat up. But they are comfy as fuck.

Still, I have to admit that I wouldn’t mind if someone came on up to me and was like, “Hey, guess what? Here’s a new pair of sneakers I designed just for you. Not only are they very comfortable but they are also bedazzled.”

Surprisingly, that hasn’t happened to me, but do you know who it has happened to? Blue Ivy. Yes, as in Beyonce and Jay-Z’s infant child. Shoe designer Ruthie Davis recently posted to her Facebook page to let the world know that not only had she designed a special pair of purple-sparkled shoes for the tot, she was naming them after her as well: The Blue Ivys (get it?).

From the looks of it, Davis mostly specializes in sky-high platform stiletto heels, so it’s nice of her to acquiesce that a baby should still be in flats. But maybe one day you could custom design something for the rest of us. I don’t know — maybe bedazzle a pair of Uggs so that those of us who love them can rock them with pride. Maybe name a pair of shoes “The Gloss” and make them have little pictures of lapdogs on them.

Just a few thoughts. That is all.
