81-Year-Old Politician Calls Lady Gaga A “Slut” …For Smoking Weed

Lady Gaga called "slut" by 81-year-old politician James Molinaro

Sluttin' it up all over Paris

Although Lady Gaga is currently battling controversy over her (super fit?) body by posing in her underwear, one of her more transparent stunts barely caused a stir–Gaga smoked pot on stage while touring Amsterdam recently and no one seemed to noticed. …Until 81-year-old Staten Island borough president James Molinaro dropped by a kickoff event for a youth anti-drug program at Staten Island’s Borough Hall, where the subject came up. Molinaro had so much to say:

“We have to understand that there’s a tremendous influence with our youth, which I didn’t have as a youth. And there’s the influence right there. Stop glorifying the drug use. There’s Gaga. Here’s this…this…I would call her a slut. This slut is influencing many, many children.” Molinaro, 81, stood alongside a poster showing a blown-up image of Gaga smoking a joint and later noted that his niece “has two daughters, 12 and 14, [and] they love this woman. Why? Why? To me, she’s not an actress, she’s a slut…in the pure meaning of the word.”

Whoa there! We would say the inevitable backlash from this will teach Molinaro that he shouldn’t use words like that, but… it already has. Molinaro backtracked to the Times:

“Looking up the word ‘slut’ to see if it was properly used before I used it, it said ‘improper conduct,’” he said, referring to an entry in a Random House dictionary. “Now, isn’t it improper for someone who is so high profile to be smoking reefer in front of children? I have grandnieces that idolize her – 12 and 13 years old – and it’s ridiculous. You see these young girls walking around on Halloween with her outfit on.”

Not reefer and improper conduct!

Tangentially, the only thing more annoying than some politician calling a woman a “slut” to demean her is… the sort of person who refers to dictionary definitions when cornered.

All that being said, Lady Gaga should probably give herself a vacation.
