Do You Have A One True Love? Let’s Watch This Behind The Scenes Clip From Liz And Dick And Discuss.

elizabeth taylor richard burtonThere is a scene in this behind-the-scenes clip from the upcoming Lindsay Lohan Lifetime movie Liz & Dick in which Lindsay says that Richard Burton was Elizabeth’s Taylor‘s “one true love.” And my first reaction was “yes! Look at how he is caressing her neck with diamonds!”

My second reaction was “well, actually, that’s kind of disrespectful to all her of husbands that came afterwards.” And there were a few.

Besides, I’m basing that “one true love” thing largely around the fact that Richard Burton said that Taylor’s body was “beautiful beyond the dreams of pornography.” And he bought her a lot of diamonds. But in between those moments she was an emotional wreck with him, and took all the sleeping pills (I cannot help but feel that there was a subtle message here that if this movie is not kindly reviewed Lindsay Lohan will have a goddamn breakdown).

Shouldn’t your “one true love” be someone you can live with? Someone who only makes you want to take a medically prescribed number of pills? Or is the whole “one true love” aspect defined principally by the fact that they’re someone you can never truly be with because the passion is just too intense? Wouldn’t that be a one true crazy utterly debilitating passion instead of love? I mean, you do want to marry someone you can essentially stand to be around.

But, I mean, the diamonds do look great.

Maybe she didn’t take the pills because of him, though, maybe she was just fucked up. Maybe she got even more fucked up when she realized he WAS her true love but he still couldn’t ‘fix’ her.
