Lena Dunham Goes Pantless To An Event: Attention Whore Or Quirky Individual?

You know, just working without her pants.

As we’ve already seen, the lovely Lena Dunham of HBO’s Girls is all for putting it all out there — literally. If she’s not dropping “trou” or taking off her shirt on Girls, you can find her sitting naked on a toilet eating cake for the Emmy Awards. Although we’re still trying to figure out exactly what that had to do with the show, it seemed to be a “classic” Dunham move. She also, apparently, as we can see above, works in her skivvies. As one who also works in a pantless home office, I’m all for this behavior, but I’m also doing it behind closed doors. You never know who might find your attire uncomfortable to their delicate senses.

On Saturday, Dunham attended a culinary event with her fellow Girls‘ star, Allison Williams. While the equally adorable, and Charlotte York-esque Williams wore a cute striped dress, Dunham decided to leave her pants at home. Instead she decided to wear a pretty damn short turquoise silk tunic that definitely, well, almost definitely needed something to go under it. OK. Yeah, she definitely needed something to go under it and I hope there was at least underwear there. And I was trying so hard not to be a prude!

Dunham should be commended for several things; especially embracing her body that is regarded as “imperfect” in the fucked up eyes of Hollywood, but is she taking this too far between leaving her pants at home and consuming cake naked on a toilet… and for what — ratings? Or do we still want to scoop her up and love her endlessly anyway?

Sorry! This poll is now closed.

      I would call it less of an attention whore mishap and more of a needing to fire her stylist mishap.

      hipster nonsense.

      File this under “Things I Wish I Were Famous To Do Because Then I Could Get Away With Them.”

      You’re over-thinking it. She’s a comedian. She’s being funny and commenting on the ridiculousness that are these award shows and high class events over which celebrities (and the public) obsess. You wouldn’t be presenting this the same way if she was Seth Rogan or Louis C.K….a man.

        No offense to Seth Rogan or Louis C.K. ,but I would really prefer it if they continued wearing pants when they leave the house.

        @Wren.

        Agreed! Lena is adorable and can rock anything she wants, as far as I’m concerned.

        So no, Ivy, it wasn’t a gender issue at all. It was a simple question… not everything is about gender, class, race or politics. Some things are just about pants… or lack there of.
