Eva Longoria – who is a Democrat – retweeted a tweet from one of her 4.5 million twitter followers. This is what it said:
Okay, that seems like something you would say to a friend. This 18 year old is probably mistaken in thinking that Eva Longoria is a close personal friend she should speak freely about her political opinions with. Imnotyuri: movie stars are not your friends, not really. That is especially true when those movie stars big role was in Over Her Dead Body. I mean, really.
Needless to say, a lot of Eva’s followers are Republicans who do not follow Eva for political reasons (they are huge fans of ghost romances). They jumped on Imnotyuri. Eva distanced herself by taking down the retweet and remarking:
I use Twitter as a platform for all Americans and their opinions. Sorry if people were offended by retweet. Obviously not my words or my personal view. I respect all Americans #FreedomOfSpeech
Well, that’s great, but it did still mean that an 18 year old spent hours desperately apologizing to seemingly every Republican on Twitter. Imnotyuri tweeted:
I’m not sure who the real jerk is here. On one hand, Imnotyuri is foolish. On the other hand, Eva Longoria is foolish for not realizing how many people this message would reach. On the third, invisible hand, it kind of seems like Republican-ghost-movie-fans are assholes for ganging up on an 18 year old.
In conclusion, let’s all go back to MySpace, or possibly smoke signals.
