Red Carpet Rundown: The Many Fashion Disasters Of The 2012 MTV EMAs

The MTV EMAs occurred last night! What that means is basically all the same mini dresses, questionable “edgy” haircuts and dumb shoes as a regular MTV red carpet, only with a bunch of people we hardly recognize! Let’s focus on those we do–Heidi Klum, Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Lana Del Rey, Alicia Keys and more ahead.

Let’s start off with Heidi Klum:

Well, this is dreadful. No further comment.

We’ll carry along with models. Anne V‘s dress is also dreadful. She’s replaced the corsetry and visible thigh with zippered leather and visible crotch. Not an improvement.

Isabeli Fontana really turns it out, though. She swaps out the slits for fringe and makes for the worst look of them all.

Although the ’90s kid in us who pogo’ed to “Just A Girl” all the time will forever be happy to see the original No Doubt lineup intact, we can’t help but feel Gwen Stefani looks pantsless under her silk robe. If you’re going to wear thigh high boots, though, you might consider a style like this.

Here’s PSY! We were at a party this weekend and someone put on “Gangnam Style” and everyone starting dancing in unison–like two dozen people. We felt super left out. Also, “Gangnam Style” is great.

Pixie Geldof has one of those candy clutches from the Margiala x H&M collaboration. That’s the nicest thing we have to say about this look!

Still trying to make himself work.

This is Jedward. We’ve managed to avoid what Jedward is, despite working in online entertainment blogging for two years.

Also. People need to recognize that zippers should serve a purpose or they look dumb.

This is Rita Ora, a British singer-songwriter. Hers would be quite the Oscars gown. Sadly, it looks very silly on an MTV red carpet.

Lana Del Rey has apparently entered the Loretta Lynn phase of her existential crisis.

Alicia Keys is squeezing out the last drops of the ubiquitous Stella McCartney bodycon dress. We must say, we prefer its blue/tan/black incarnation.

Kim Kardashian got into a vicious argument with a reel of film because she confused it for a personal assistant. This may be the worst mullet dress ever, but doesn’t really rank in terms of Kardashian fashion disasters.

Loreen is a Swedish pop star with a bare midriff. We actually like the skirt. We do not approve of any other styling decision, however.

We’re assuming this joke person listed as “Guest” in Wenn’s photo database is BryanBoy. Sick burn, Wenn.

Anyway, he looks more comical than usual, which is impressive.

Here’s another “Guest.” WUT?

Carly Rae Jepsen is looking less like a 12-year-old on red carpets these days, which we suppose is an improvement. The fringe is still quite youthful (and gaining steam as an uber-trend) but the fabric feels very stuffy. Balance?

Taylor Swift takes on sheer cutouts. Apparently people liked this dress.

…Huh.
