Kim Kardashian Vows To Use Milkshake Shilling Tour Of Middle East To Learn About International Relations

Well, this is cute. Following the barrage of criticism she got for her back-to-back tweets saying that she’s praying for the people of Israel, Palestine, and the world in general (in that order), Kim Kardashian has vowed to use her milkshake-shilling tour of the Middle East to learn about the complex geopolitical issues currently playing out there. Oh boy!

According to TMZ, Kim is scheduled to appear at the openings of two Millions of Milkshakes stores that are kind of near the conflict in Gaza, but not so near that she’d have to take out an extra insurance policy on her ass: Kuwait and Bahrain. Allegedly, she’s already set up meetings with local leaders in both places. Says one source whose name may rhyme with “Shmim Shmarshmashian’s Shmublicist”: “Kim wants to be as informed as possible … so she can use her celebrity to help those in need and raise awareness about important issues in the area.” See? It’s not just the millions of milkshake monies she is after.

While I shudder to think what type of interpretation she’ll come away with, the truth is that this shit is complicated, and there’s no shame in admitting you don’t understand it as well as you’d like to. In fact, I think being concerned for civilians in both countries (or rather, one country and one occupied territory whose people are living under apartheid) was surprisingly reasonable of her, as was the statement she released after deleting both tweets:

“I should have pointed out my intentions behind these tweets when I posted them. The fact is that regardless of religion and political beliefs, there are countless innocent people involved who didn’t choose this, and I pray for all of them and also for a resolution. I also pray for all the other people around the world who are caught in similar crossfires.”

Of course, the shilling tour does cheapen it a little, but I think it speaks to the lack of shame Kim feels over her professional fameball activities, as well as her lack of division between public and private life: it’s not cognitive dissonance to her to learn about Israel and Palestine both for her image, and because she actually cares. That she happens to be on a business trip in the region doing legitimate business lady things makes it even more convenient!

It’s no secret that I think Kim Kardashian’s kareer is a pox on our culture, but she seems genuinely willing to learn, which is more than I can say for the Zionist ideologues currently bitching out Anderson Cooper on Twitter each time he reports any information that’s unflattering to Israel. Or the people who threatened Kim’s life when it seemed like she supported Israel, for that matter.

PS: JEWS AGAINST THE OCCUPATION
