Oh, Fox News, you never fail to make me feel sick to my stomach.
Remember how we told you about Phoenix mayor Greg Stanton and his week-long trial of the “food stamps budget,” in which he lived on just $4.16 a day (about $29 per week) as part of a community challenge? Stanton lost four punds in just a week, which seemed to give him new appreciation for the tribulations of being a poorer person in America.
Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker is doing the same thing, attempting to survive on just $133 per month (approximately $4.40/day). In my opinion, this is great: considering we live in a country where 50.1 million Americans don’t always have enough to eat, raising awareness of the issue is integral to remedying it.
But while discussing the politics of whether or not Booker is doing this for political reasons–which I honestly don’t care either way, since any focus on hunger in America is very necessary–Fox News host Andrea Tantaros made several comments she found hilarious (they weren’t), including the following:
“I should try it because, do you know how fabulous I’d look? I mean, the camera adds ten pounds. It really does. I would be looking great!”
Haha! Food stamps! It’s like Weight Watchers except 14% of the population doesn’t have a choice. They all must look SO FABULOUS! Luckily they’re all totally on television where they can enjoy the skinniness Andrea Tantaros has been so cruelly denied. If you’re interest in vomming in your mouth, check out the video on Jezebel.
Thanks Fox News, for the reminder that despite all we should feel grateful for, there are plenty of extraneous aspects of the world we need to get rid of.
