It’s Black Friday! Who Camped Out In Front Of A Store Last Night Waiting For It To Open?

Definitely looks like a good time.

The day after Thanksgiving has been known as Black Friday since it was first referred to as such in 1961. Although originally it was a negative term, it has evolved to mark one of the most important days of the year in the world of retail. Stores that may have been in the “red” before are suddenly in the “black” and the economy breathes a sigh of relief. Black Friday has become the biggest shopping day of the year and is considered the official kick off to the holiday shopping season. Basically, it’s the kind of day most would like to avoid unless they enjoy being tossed around in a sea of overly eager people who only have one thing on their mind: SALES.

However, there are those who live for Black Friday. There’s something about the thrill of getting there right as the doors open at midnight or camping out the night before in the hopes of being there at 4am or 6am, or whatever other random times the stores have agreed to start the frenzy. And to add to this craziness, every year there’s always some horrific story of someone being trampled to death or purposely killed as two people fought over the last Suzie Talks A Lot doll. This is what we call consumerism at its best, people.

Do any of you actually get off on this craziness, or do you hide at home under your covers until it passes? Have you ever feared for your life as the crowds went berserk and failed to see that you were there, too?

Sorry! This poll is now closed.

      7pm- took some zzzquil
8pm- let the zzzquil run its course
3am- coffee, shower, lots of blush
5am- first day working in retail! yiiiikes.

It wasn’t too bad, just a long fucking day. Still managed to talk myself into shopping a little after my 9-hour shift. I am rarely too exhausted to miss a deal.
