Kate Middleton’s Family Cashing In On Her Pregnancy With Line Of Royal Baby Shower Partyware

Would you like to pretend your new baby was born a “little prince” or “little princess,” and furthermore, that you live in an outmoded, Medieval aristocracy in which your lot in life is determined wholly by whose vagina you came out of? Look no further than this line of festive partyware put out by Kate Middleton‘s party-planning family, whose skills as party-planners go all the way back to Elizabethan times.

According to The Daily Mail, the Middleton family’s website Party Pieces has launched a line of royal fetus referencing partyware just as Kate is settling into the “only throwing up a little” portion of her pregnancy. The sets are described on the site as “suitable for American-style baby showers, christening parties or first birthday celebrations.” (The American tradition of baby showers is spreading to the UK like wildfire, as Brits like to have as many social obligations as possible.)

See, haters? The Kardashians are not the only ones who cash in on major life events. As various people like to remind us, the Middletons are not old money, but entrepreneurs, so naturally they jumped at the chance to promote their business via their daughter’s pregnancy, albeit in a relatively tasteful way. And, to be fair, pretty much every British company that makes themed things has tried to cash in on the Royal Couple in some way. They should probably be careful, though, as it’s kind of a slippery slope. First you think you’re just printing up plates, and the next thing you know, you’re staging sex tapes and tweeting your nip slips all over the place, Kris Jenner style.
