André Leon Talley’s Attempt To Interview Quvenzhané Wallis About Fashion Is The Cutest Thing You’ll See All Day

Do you know about Quvenzhané Wallis? She’s an adorable nine-year-old who became the youngest person ever to be nominated for a Best Actress Oscar this year for her leading role in Beasts Of The Southern Wild, and she also wore a very pretty dress to the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards:

18th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards

While I generally think it’s disgusting to try to turn a child into a “style icon,” or even a “style person of interest” unless they are some sort of fashion prodigy like Tavi Gevinson, this video of André Leon Talley interviewing her for Vogue is too delightful for words:

From the start, it’s clear she would rather talk about music than fashion (a girl after my own heart), listing off her favorite artists as follows: Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Debby Ryan. Coming off like the world’s most delightful uncle, ALT asks her where she finds the time to listen to “all those ladies.” Doesn’t she have homework?

“Ooh, I forgot to do my homework today.” But it’s okay!

“You love music, so you must look at some pictures of fashion,” he asks, trying to prompt her. But rather than name off designers like some creepy little adult, she sings “Fashion Is My Kryptonite” by Disney stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya, which is fair, considering she’s nine.

He asks her some age appropriate questions about what pets she has (two dogs!) what she got for Christmas (a pink electric scooter!), before trying to get her to say more cute things about clothes. Which she does! Namely: she doesn’t like wearing long dresses to events, “’cause I might step on it and trip on it and I don’t wanna humiliate myself!”

Quvenzhané Wallis, you’re okay. When I interview you, we can talk about music for as long as you want.

That is the most ridiculously adorable not-quite teenager. QUICK EVERYONE ACT NATURAL, don’t screw her up or, you know, give her drugs or anything.

it’s such a shame they did that to her hair for the award show. Her hair in the video is amazing and so cool.
