“You Know How To Stop Abortion? Require That Each One Occur With A Gun.”

Most of the Rush Limbaugh quotes you will read or hear, if that is something that you decide to seek out, are somewhat ridiculous. He is a professional troll, a person who is obscene and cruel and rude and bullies people for recognition. This one, however, was so startling in its absurdity, I had to read it twice.

CALLER: It’s terrible that 26 people died in Sandy Hook and 20 of them were children. Terrible. Very sad, coming up to Christmas, hopes and dreams that young children had; their parents and weddings and graduations that will never occur.

However, on any given day in Americans [sic], more than 3,000 children are killed from abortion and we have no problems with that. We’re OK with that. It’s not an issue.

So you can’t spend 40 years of telling people and telling children that if I make a mistake, if something comes up and this child I don’t want is in the way of my future and in the way of me graduating high school, is in the way of me going to college, is [in] the way of me being happy, is in the way of whatever I want out of life, that it’s OK for me to kill the baby, but later on when I become a disgruntled employee, when I become an unhappy student at school because children are bullying me, that I want to eliminate them and get them out of the way? It’s the same concept.

LIMBAUGH: Well, it’s a good point. You know how to stop abortion? Require that each one occur with a gun.

Yeah. Obviously, the first person’s argument is absurd, as well, but I have a feeling that the guy is probably not hosting the most listened-to show in the United States like Limbaugh (yes, really). But when Limbaugh says things with this revolting poignancy that comes from years of practicing being a jerk, I find it so hard to just ignore him the way I would any person spewing such nonsense (cue the inevitable trolling comments telling me I spew such nonsense, yadda yadda yadda).

As Laura Beck put it on Jezebel, “He’s so amped up that it’s hard not to get angry and irate by the end of it — whether it’s because you agree or disagree, you’re left with loads of righteous indignation… If I was a Republican and had any power whatsoever, I’d be fighting as hard as I could to make Limbaugh irrelevant.” While I consider myself neither Republican nor Democrat, I agree that if I were the former, I would absolutely be fighting tooth and nail to get people like Limbaugh, as well as the Todd Akins of the world, as far away from microphones as possible so they could stop alienating the youth of the country from Republicanism. But as of right now, those are the people that many of us imagine when we think of that particular party; removing them from significance is the only way to regain many Americans’ attention.

Then again, Limbaugh 62 and just seems like an overall asshole which I imagine is rather exhausting, so I assume/hope retirement is in the cards sometime in the nearish future.

This is so idiotic I can’t even process it. So, essentially, if you have an abortion, then you should die. Since the abortion is done with a gun, I can’t see how you would exactly survive it. Which is murder. Which is the whole argument to begin with. I think I’m pretty much stating the obvious here, but good lord is he an idiot.

What’s so sad is that many people don’t view this as “the obvious,” even though it totally is. :( It really is impossible to rationalize, guhhh.

Rush, sweetie, I think you miss something. There are around 150, 000, 000 women in the United States, which is around 55% of its population. Believe me, if you had to deal with mere 20 women, they would rip you to fucking shreds, and, if I lived where you do, I’d ensure that to happen. I wish that heart attack killed you… or perhaps for you to have a stroke and to get a real life analogy of Nurse Ratchet.

I’m in serious need of having to Prove to my husband that Rush said this. Could someone please provide the date, and in what segment it was in? I’ve gone to Rush’s archives for the last week and can’t find it. But he’s such a master of hiding things and I’m sure I’m just missing it. Thanks.
