AAUGH!: Charlie Brown Voice Actor Peter Robbins Arrested For Stalking & Death Threats

Having grown up watching a whole lot of Charlie Brown specials and listening to their soundtracks nonstop in the car, I have a whole lot of nostalgia in mind mind surrounding that character. From his gullibility with kicking the football so callously removed by Lucy to his trademark, head-thrown-back “AAUGH,” he has long been one of America’s most beloved comic strip characters. Sadly, just as Elmo before him, Charlie Brown has been given a bit of a bad tint now that voice actor Peter Robbins has been arrested.

The former voice actor who originally played Charlie Brown in several specials was arrested on Sunday evening while attempting to get back into the country from Mexico via the San Ysidro Port of Entry. According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection spokeswoman Angelica de Cima, a background check on Robbins showed he had an outstanding warrant in San Diego County.

Peter Robbins, 56, is set to be arraigned today on one count of stalking and four counts of making a threat to cause death or great bodily injury. It’s both unpleasant and bizarre to imagine the little boy who voiced the lead in It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown to go on to use his voice to make death threats towards somebody, but at least he was caught before he could actually harm anybody (that we know of).

Also, great, now previously sweet pictures like this (taken from his Facebook) will have a creepy, weird tainted aspect to them:

Of course, Charlie Brown is beloved, so I am certain this will not ruin the actual image of the character. It will make for some jokes the next time I watch any of the specials Robbins voices in, but other than that, I’m sure the little goofy boy from Charles Schulz’s comics will live on just as wonderfully as before.
