Last night, we brought you realtime updates of all the dresses at the 2013 SAG Awards. As you know now, it was a big night for jeweltones (no, seriously), black gowns with lots of embellishment and some daring hits of color. Below, our picks for the evening’s ten best dressed…
Though we’re normally no fan of sheer panels (or sideboob), we though Michelle Dockery looked super sexy and understated in her vintage Chado Ralph Rucci.
Naomi Watts did all the stuff that normally annoys us: tired Old Hollywood glamour, a pile of side-parted waves, Marchesa. But keeping the accessories minimal really updated everything and made a usually contrived look work.
Anne Hathaway was almost a little too cutesy but… that neckline is tremendous on her! The pixie cut makes the very frothy dress a little more modern.
Kiernan Shipka looked so cute.
Of all the “black gowns with embellishment” we saw last night, we though Clea DuVall‘s styling was freshest.
Yup, this surprises us a lot, too. We normally dislike Nina Dobrev–and still think she tries way too hard–but a lot of last night’s dresses looked the same and Dobrev’s stood out. For that, we like it a little more today.
Also. Something must be said for absolutely nailing the fit:
Yes. Good lord. Damn girl, and all that.
Jennifer Lawrence was deathly ill… but that Christian Dior gown! She should wear more blue.
And our favorite of the SAG Awards red carpet. Not quite perfect but by far the most interesting of the night was Marion Cotillard in Dior.
All right. To the comments!
