Red Carpet Rundown: The 2013 Grammy Awards Red Carpet

Rihanna dress

One of the most important red carpet of the year is upon us: the Grammy Awards. The music industry’s biggest night will feature plenty of huge artists performing, self-congratulatory recipient speeches and, of course, plenty of fashion. And since we all know how much you love to see celebrities wearing gorgeous, ridiculous and occasionally terrible styles, we here at The Gloss will be giving you tons of looks live from the 55th Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Just as we did for the SAG Awards two weeks ago, this list will be updated through the evening, so keep checking back for more looks in the next couple of hours. Also, be sure to check our Twitter for live updates and our take on the goings on of the Grammy’s.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Kelly Osbourne took a page out of Kim Kardashian’s look and opted for cutouts tonight. I have to admit, I’m a fan of her long purple ponytail (massive improvement from the Teletubby look!).

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Janelle Monae wins at everything because of course she does, and everybody knows it.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Singer Kaya Jones went for red lips and a red dress.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

TV personality Giuliana Rancic chose an all-over monochromatic look.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

I’m not sure what singer Kimbra is wearing, but I feel like she should be serving everyone absinthe at The Edison.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Cutouts appear to be the choice of plenty tonight, including supermodel Karlie Kloss.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

I may be completely alone in this, but I’m totally obsessed with Keltie Colleen‘s bright, swishy gown (though I’m not quite as keen on the canary shoes).

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

It’s metallic everything for Carly Rae Jepsen this evening.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Carrie Underwood went for the same silhouette with an ornate pattern.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

While I appreciate Ashanti‘s enthusiasm, is it just me or can you see her underwear?

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Not to be upstaged by Ashanti, singer-songwriter Lila Downs went for the Wear Absolutely Everything look.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

If Godzilla and Poison Ivy had a child, it would look like Florence Welch‘s dress. This is not necessarily a bad thing.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Alexa Chung set herself apart by choosing a much shorter hemline than most of the looks seen on people tonight.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

I’m not sure what LMFAO’s RedFoo is wearing, but I can’t help noticing his extremely toned and smooth calves. And also how it is a little endearing to see guys be fashion disasters, too.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Singer Skylar Grey went for the side boob, also showcasing her lovely rib tattoo.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Is it odd that I enjoy Esperanza Spalding‘s outfit primarily because it reminds me of a geode?

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Bonnie McKee wore a dress. And did her hair.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Upon the realization that she and Kaya Jones had picked out the same dress, Natasha Bedingfield put hers through a sandblaster and wore it anyway.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

John Mayer wore Willy Wonka and weed for the evening.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

In a shocking turn of events, Taylor Swift wore a long, flowing white gown.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

A floral tea length dress with matching shoes were adorned by Adele.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Wiz Khalifa and an expecting Amber Rose looked pretty darn cute together. Rose never fails to remind people that pregnant women can wear tight, glamorous dresses, too, and don’t just need to don sparkly muumuus.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Miranda Lambert chose a simple black floor-length gown.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE A JENNIFER LOPEZ‘S RIGHT LEG TWITTER RIGHT NOW.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Kelly Rowland wore black structured black fashion tape (but seriously, I am in awe of how dresses like this stay in place when I can’t even get my bra strap to not fall down on occasion).

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

All the boob-revealing cutouts are on the carpet tonight! I can’t entirely explain why (I’ll leave that to Ashley’s best/worst dressed lists tomorrow) but I both like and hate Katy Perry‘s dress. I think I’m just weird and obsessed with mint ice cream.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals Beyonce‘s fiercest “Did you guys see what I did at the Super Bowl?” face.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Speaking of fierce, Solange Knowles forces us to inquire, “How the hell can one family have so many good looking people in it?”

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Nicole Kidman‘s sheer gold leaf gown sort of matched her hair (and, in this photo, her eyes).

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Actress Kat Dennings chose a knee-length printed dress and quite possibly my favorite lipstick of the evening.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Is the bottom of Alicia Keys‘ gown confusing anybody else?

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Arrivals

Oh look, it’s Kate Middleton! I mean, Allison Williams. Because they look so alike, or something.

The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards - Red Carpet

Undoubtedly, the Internet will be abuzz with talk of Rihanna‘s very long, very sexy, very red gown.

      ugh, Jennifer Lopez, just STOP.

        Holy shit, I know.

      • Gina

Haha, exactly what I thought when I saw her: STOP! Just fucking stop trying so hard.

    • Jessica

I like how so many of these pictures have the filthy highway in the background. Not to mention all the non-famous people with headsets wandering about. It kind of puts into perspective how silly it would feel to be dressed like Kelly Rowland- even upon arrival at the Grammy’s.

I used to live pretty close to there, and it’s pretty sad how impoverished and desolate tons of areas of LA are just down the street from the locations where they hold awards shows.

I love how K. Perry seems to think her get-up is quite demure and elegant, and I’m all “missus, I can see basically your entire boob.” Which is fine but which might seem to call more for one of her trademark smiley-faces. Kat Dennings and Solange look great- dressed-up bit still quite natural. Alexa Chung looks lovely but a bit daytime, no?

    • anna

rihanna is best dressed, for sure. there were a lot of risks i appreciated and alot of boring pretty gowns but rihanna is the only one who nailed it. and i don’t normally like rihanna’s looks that much!

      • anna

adele 2nd best. alexa chung, you let me down. so hard.

    • alexandra

Beyonce wins. I don’t know how, but despite how over-the-top all of this is, I am bored.
