Yet Another Celebrity Is Totally Not Down With Chris Brown & Rihanna’s Relationship

Katy-Perry-Rihanna

The general consensus of the entire world is that Chris Brown is the absolute biggest douchebag on the planet, but celebrities have oft stayed quiet — likely because Brown is a enormously famous musician on a major label with a huge following and a whole lot of friends. There have been a couple of exceptions, but those are few and far between. But according to “sources,” Katy Perry is not down with Brown (can that be a thing we chant?) and has actually had a difficult time maintaining her friendship with Rihanna due to her now publicly renewed relationship with him.

According to Us Weekly, a source close to Perry stated, “They aren’t tight anymore because Katy doesn’t approve of Rihanna dating Chris Brown.” Apparently “there had been tension” due to the build-up of Riri and Brown’s love — something we kept tabs on and were incredibly saddened by — and in November, the New York Daily News reported that the pair were “barely talking.” The last time people saw Perry and Rihanna out together was at the VMAs in September, which was coincidentally (maybe) the same night Chris Brown received a kiss from Rihanna. (Gross.)

While Perry reportedly thinks Rihanna is ”making a huge mistake and doesn’t want to be part of it,” it does sadden me to think that Rihanna’s friends might stop being in her life because of Brown. In abusive relationships, the abuser tends to force the victim into isolation by deterring her (or him) from maintaining friendships, thus distancing any help. Obviously, I have no idea if that’s the case here, but it still is worth noting. Either way, though, it’s quite a bummer.

Actually, let’s just say that the lesson here is Chris Brown is a terrible person now and forever, okay? Okay. Also, crimped hair is generally stupid looking.

I don’t blame Katy Perry for distancing herself from Rihanna if that what she feels she needs to do. No matter how much you love and care about someone who is in an abusive relationship, sometimes the abuser makes it so unbearable to be around them that other people HAVE to distance themselves in order to save their own sanity. I’m not saying that’s the case here, but that’s what happened with my mother-in-law and my father-in-law. He was such an asshole to everyone that even her own brothers couldn’t be a part of her life anymore. My MIL is now deceased after a long battle with cancer and my FIL is still an asshole.

katy… dont throw rocks if you live in a glass house. I hate chris for what he did to rihanna, but they have forgiven each other again, and if she feels some kind of love for chris who are we to stop it, or give an ultimatum? katy, do your thing and hang out with mayer.
