Plots I Have Imagined For New Nicholas Sparks Film ‘Safe Haven’ After Viewing The Trailer Once With No Sound

safe haven

Julianne Hough witnesses a murder and has to leave town under the Witness Protection Program. Cobie Smulders plays the (undercover???) FBI agent assigned to her. She falls in love with Josh Duhamel, who dies in a fire and has one, possibly two, children. Is the boy his child? The girl almost definitely is.

Julianne Hough believes that she has witnessed a murder when in fact she is the murderer herself. Suffering from mental blackouts and delusions, she flees town, but cannot leave behind her violent alter ego. When her hoodie is up, she appears sane. When her hoodie is down, she is paranoid and uncontrollably bloodthirsty.

Julianne Hough and Cobie Smulders are the same person.

Julianne Hough is a vampire, or a witch, or an angel or something, but the kind of angel that can fall in love, like in City of Angels, not like in Michael. She falls in love with Cobie Smulders. Josh Duhamel is their gay best friend. There are some children nearby.

Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel are both angels or vampires or something, but they’re on different sides of a war and are forbidden from ever falling in love. Julianne Hough witnesses a man in a dark jacket move across a room, then flees town. ‘Safe Haven’ is a board game.

Julianne Hough is the only person who can see Cobie Smulders.

Julianne Hough watched her best friend, Cobie Smulders, die at the hands of a brutal killer, and unable to process the guilt, runs away to a seaside resort where she pretends her best friend is alive and well. The local townspeople pity her too much to ever disturb her prolonged delusion. She wanders the streets of town at all hours carrying on long and involved conversations with the one person she could not save.

Josh Duhamel is a demented but friendly local eccentric who makes bikes for strange women, then sets the local convenience store ablaze when Julianne Hough scorns his gift.

These are all remarkably similar to the plots I imagined after watching the trailer WITH sound.

  • Breezy

I’ve seen the trailer at least 4 times and have yet to notice Cobie Smulders at all. But these seem plausible.

Any of these would probably be better than the actual plot.
