It may be President’s Day, but so? If we’re not going to get a national First Lady’s Day, then President’s Day seems a bit unfair. Even the most passive of First Ladies have made an impact on the presidents to whom they were married while in office, so they should be recognized, too.
While my petition to have First Lady’s Day added to the calendar of national holidays is still on my desk waiting to be edited (I’m a procrastinator), it doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate some of the great women who impacted the history of this country. As to whether or not they would have been able to do what they did had they not been married to a president remains to be seen, but I don’t care about that. What I care about is wondering how long it will take before Hillary Clinton asks me to be her BFF. We all have dreams; and if I can’t kick it with Betty Ford, Hill is my next choice.
I guess that means my favorite First Lady is Betty? Hell yeah, it’s Betty! She’s the best!
