Usually when we hear about the GOP saying something incredibly stupid about women’s bodies, it is coming from the mouth of a man. Whether it’s that females can shut down hella unwanted sperm from legitimate rape or that pregnancies resulting from rape are a “gift from god,” it’s typically a dude saying this sort of dumb stuff. But hey, idiocy is an equal opportunity employer, so low and behold: Rep. Mary Sue McClurkin!
Alabama representative McClurkin is sponsoring a bill that would essentially bring enough regulations and restrictions on abortion clinics in her state to shut them all down. Rather than just shutting up and letting her oppressive policy sponsorship speak for her, she told the Montgomery Advertiser that she’s totally just protecting women from having their organs removed.
“When a physician removes a child from a woman, that is the largest organ in a body. That’s a big thing. That’s a big surgery. You don’t have any other organs in your body that are bigger than that.”
That’s right guys. Fetuses are organs. Organs that eventually become people, which is basically what your tonsils do when you give birth to them after — HEY, WAIT A MINUTE.

Oh, idiocy and ignorance: consider yourselves represented. Fortunately, there are rational people in the House, such as Rep, Patricia Todd, a Birmingham Democrat, who clearly attended biology class in high school. She opposes the bill and comments, ”They’re drafting a bill on a subject they have no knowledge of. They’ve never been in a clinic. They don’t know what the regulations are.”
On another note, I appear to be missing a giant organ. Holy shit.
