The Postal Service Is Now Designing Clothing

Well, the postal service stopped delivering mail on Sundays. I guess, since postmen are like elves with boundless work ethic, the postal service had to find a way to fill that time. So, your postman is now a clothing designer. Really.

According to the Washington Post:

The cash-strapped agency announced plans on Tuesday to launch a new line of all-weather apparel and accessories called Rain, Heat & Snow sometime next year.

Well, my postman’s name is Preston, and he seems like he has pretty good style, so I can get behind this. I can get behind Preston designing clothing. But wait! Apparently it will not be made or designed by postmen. The creation of the clothing line will be overseen by the Wahconah Group, Inc., and it will be comprised of all-weather apparel such as ” jackets, headgear, footwear and clothing” that allow for “modern technology like iPods.” I kind of thought that all clothing allowed you to carry those around by use of pockets, but I guess I do not know.

“This agreement will put the Postal Service on the cutting edge of functional fashion,” agency licensing manager Steven Mills said in a statement. “The main focus will be to produce Rain Heat & Snow apparel and accessories using technology to create ‘smart apparel’ — also known as wearable electronics.”

The cutting edge of functional fashion.

First they’ll be sold at the post offices, then Bergdorf’s.

I really wanted this to be about The Postal Service, the band. I would probably be okay with Ben Gibbard designed clothing.
