Red Carpet Rundown: The Worst Oscars Beauty (Sadly)

Kristen Stewart worst Oscars beauty

As we’ve mentioned, last night’s Oscars red carpet was surprisingly solid (mostly interesting across the board, with a mostly clear best dressed and worst dressed list). That said, there were some very good choices in the beauty department.

And some very, very bad ones.

Let’s also just be clear on what we mean when we say “worst Oscars beauty:” the cheesy hair, the piles of fake lashes, the too much, too tall, too silly. In other words:

Maria Menounos

Maria Menounos, how did you leave the house?!

Kelly RowlandKelly Rowland‘s hair was so awkward.

Catherine Zeta-Jones Catherine Zeta-Jones was orange.

Kelly OsbourneKelly Osbourne was going for that bright pop of color with her lipstick but it really just clashed with everything else.

Amanda Seyfried It’s hard out there for a pale girl–and we think Amanda Seyfried is so beautiful–but the whole look just felt so washed out, so ashen.

As is possible with every one of these looks, it could have been stunning in person.

Jennifer Hudson Although we thought her makeup was amazing and we really liked her bangs, the long limp column of extensions didn’t add anything to Jennifer Hudson‘s look.

AdeleThe hair was the problem for so many at last night’s Oscars ceremony. Adele, another very beautiful lady, wore a big, crispy bouffant. With highlights. And too much liquid liner.

Helena Bonham Carter The cool thing about having Helena Bonham Carter on your worst [x] list is that she doesn’t give a shit.

85th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsMelissa McCarthy reminded us of this and that really bummed us out.

Kristen Stewart We give Kristen Stewart a lot of leeway–she was on crutches!–but if you’re going to be a little rebellious with your hair at the Oscars, you have to either 1) brush it or 2) wash it. You can’t have greasy and messy at the damn Academy Awards; it just looks like she ran away from her hair people. Like that coppery color, though.

Is this a good place to admit that for the beginning half of All That Jazz, I was attempting to convince my boyfriend that Catherine Zeta-Jones was actually Seth MacFarlane in drag? Not because I was making some kind of weird joke, but because I ACTUALLY believed this to be the case?

Maybe it was the tanner she had on? (attempting to tie my comment into the post also, hope this isn’t interpreted as ____snarking, somehow)

Kristen Stewart’s make-up is on point. Love the copper, love the fuchsia lip — especially in a sea of “barely there, my face but better” neutrals. Completely agree with you, her hair is shameful. If it’s that dirty, put it up, girl! Hair oil can be hidden with some teasing in an updo.

I hate hate hate the whole “nude to the point of looking erased” lipstick trend. It isn’t flattering on anyone, and it’s been popular for way too long now.

That said, Kristen Stewart’s makeup was awesome. Too bad about the hair.

I loved Maria Menounos’s look, she shouldn’t be on this list at all.
