As we’ve mentioned, last night’s Oscars red carpet was surprisingly solid (mostly interesting across the board, with a mostly clear best dressed and worst dressed list). That said, there were some very good choices in the beauty department.
And some very, very bad ones.
Let’s also just be clear on what we mean when we say “worst Oscars beauty:” the cheesy hair, the piles of fake lashes, the too much, too tall, too silly. In other words:
Maria Menounos, how did you leave the house?!
Kelly Rowland‘s hair was so awkward.
Catherine Zeta-Jones was orange.
Kelly Osbourne was going for that bright pop of color with her lipstick but it really just clashed with everything else.
It’s hard out there for a pale girl–and we think Amanda Seyfried is so beautiful–but the whole look just felt so washed out, so ashen.
As is possible with every one of these looks, it could have been stunning in person.
Although we thought her makeup was amazing and we really liked her bangs, the long limp column of extensions didn’t add anything to Jennifer Hudson‘s look.
The hair was the problem for so many at last night’s Oscars ceremony. Adele, another very beautiful lady, wore a big, crispy bouffant. With highlights. And too much liquid liner.
The cool thing about having Helena Bonham Carter on your worst [x] list is that she doesn’t give a shit.
Melissa McCarthy reminded us of this and that really bummed us out.
We give Kristen Stewart a lot of leeway–she was on crutches!–but if you’re going to be a little rebellious with your hair at the Oscars, you have to either 1) brush it or 2) wash it. You can’t have greasy and messy at the damn Academy Awards; it just looks like she ran away from her hair people. Like that coppery color, though.
