A Model Is Suing Mad Men

Mad Men intro

Mad Men/Matthew Weiner is not being sued for for sexual harassment, which was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard a model was suing Mad Men. Because somehow I’ve decided that Matt Weiner behaves exactly like everyone on the show, and it’s completely autobiographical. That feels right.

Though, in this case, the actual model suing is Gita Hall, a 79 year old retired model who once appeared in Revlon ads, and whose image now appears in the title sequence of Mad Men. According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Known simply as Gita Hall in her heyday, she was a model in the photo used in a Revlon ad in the early 1960s. She says that she only gave permission for its use for that purpose and did not agree “to allow, forty years later, her image to be cropped from the photo, in secret, and inserted as a key element in the title sequence of a cable television series, without her consent and for commercial purposes.”

That seems pretty logical and fair of her, actually, and I guess Mad Men should not have just randomly grabbed images for their title sequence (though they did win an Emmy for best title sequence, so they at least grabbed the best possible images).

Also, Mad Men is coming back! April 7th. Here is a preview that reveals nothing whatsoever, not even the slightest plot clue:

April 7th is too far away, damnit! That and Game of Thrones. I need my doses of scripted misogyny and dragon-boobs!
