Red Carpet Rundown: Game Of Thrones Season 3 Red Carpet Is Busily Ugly And Tastefully Boring

Premiere of the third season of HBO Series 'Game of Thrones'

The Game of Thrones premiere went down in LA last night and, we must admit, we don’t really recognize any of these people outside their costumes!

Well, perhaps more accurately, we don’t recognize anyone because we stopped watching the show after the first season (it was so stressful!).

Anyway, here’s what they wore on the red carpet.

Emilia ClarkeOkay. Sorry. We need to break from fashion coverage for a moment and just say Emilia Clarke is so hot it’s stupid. It’s dumbfounding. LOOK AT HER.

Her dress isn’t doing much for us, although it’s tasteful and pretty.

But her eyebrows? Her skin? Everything? She can do whatever she damn well pleases.

Michelle ForbesMichelle Forbes (‘ stylist) decided that–because the dress is so demure and simple–to get a POP! OF! COLOR! with the heels.

It didn’t work because it never works.

Janina Gavankar Game of ThronesJanina Gavankar came dressed as an early 00′s Bebe mannequin.

Gwendoline Christie Game of ThronesWhy not, Gwendoline Christie?

Rose LeslieA lot of very unfussy dresses tonight, probably because people are so used to seeing the actors in elaborate dress. Rose Leslie wore green.

I found it hard to recognise even the most integral-to-the-plot characters because 90% of them have a different hair colour in real life.

      • Katy Hearne

Yes! I didn’t recognize a great deal of them either. But isn’t Brianne pretty in real life? Gaw, I didn’t know (tho she does greatly resemble a leggy holiday season hershey kiss in that gold tinfoil dress)

      • Tania

That was my first thought when I saw her, too. They do a great job uglifying her for the show.

      • Samantha Escobar

Absolutely! I had no idea who some of them were, good lord.

    • Vanessa Vieira

Amanda Peet is married to one of the creators of the show! And my lord…Emilia Clarke is so beautiful. If only I could have those brows.

      • Ashley Cardiff

        That explains it.

        And yes. If only!

    • Emily

I actually kind of like Emilia’s dress – she looks great in that blue – but, maybe I think she looks great because, like you said, she’s just ridiculously beautiful. And, couldn’t agree more about the Bebe mannequin, haha.

      • Ashley Cardiff

I don’t dislike it, I just don’t think it does much for her!

It kind of just registers as “a blue dress” as opposed to being something that really highlights how outrageously fucking beautiful she is.

      • Ashley Cardiff

(Which is *really* outrageously fucking beautiful, ps)

Michelle Forbes’ shoes are even worse for being satin. If you glance at her hair/beauty and then quickly down at her feet, it’s actually comical.

Re: Amanda Peet: why do they even still make velvet gowns?

      • Ashley Cardiff

        GOOD question.

      • anna

:( i like all velvet, all the time

      • Katy Hearne

My boyfriend really, really wants a velvet suit. He says if Elvis wore it then it’s okay. *sigh*

      • Ashley Cardiff

Your boyfriend sounds completely righteous but he is also probably wrong.

      • anna

haha my boyfriend HATES velvet! he tries to hide all my velvet things. my velvet leggings, ok, i can understand.

    • anna

god, emilia clarke. she’s one of those women (like jane birkin) who i want to have as my style icon, until i realize the only way i could look like her is to have her face. her “look” is her amazing face.

      • Ashley Cardiff

I’m so glad this thread has just devolved into how much we all love Emilia Clarke’s face.

SOMEBODY SENDS THE GAME OF THRONES PEEPS A PROPER STYLIST. this was so annoying to watch as somebody who loves the show.
