These Are The Most Expensive Shoes In The World

Would you like to see the world’s most expensive shoes? As one might expect, they are covered in diamonds. The pair looks as though it could, indeed, be the most expensive shoe in the world, as every square centimeter is practically screaming, “I am worth more than your whole closet!”

Designed by Kathryn Wilson for a Ronald McDonald House charity auction, these shoes are rather incredible. Fashionable? Maybe, but what’s most interesting about them is that they need a bigger entourage than most humans. According to Refinery29:

Auctioned in New Zealand for the equivalent of $418,450, the shoes required a full-scale security contingent to keep the 21.18 carats of diamonds safe. It took Wilson 50 over hours to make the shoes by hand, often staying up into the wee hours of the night, her eyes squinting over her delicate work.

Hand. Designed. Diamond shoes. Protected by a ton of bodyguards. I want that to sink into your head for a moment.

Shoes protected by bodyguards.

While I think the shoe itself is beautiful, I can’t think of a single situation where I would find it appropriate to wear diamond-encrusted shoes. I am very clumsy and very, very pigeon-toed, so I ruin shoes quickly. What if I lost a stone? On a normal pair, losing a few speckles would be just fine; here, it would literally mean you were leaving thousands of dollars on the floor.

Of course, these are simply a luxury item to remind everybody of how lavish the world can possibly be. I like to imagine Kimye, Lady Gaga and Paris Hilton roasting marshmallows over piles of these shoes while laughing maniacally and singing “Burn, Baby, Burn.”
