Red Carpet Rundown: What The Ladies Wore At The Elle Women In Music Party

Kelly Rowland, Martha Wainwright, Robbie Myers, and Rita Ora last night in new York

Last night, Elle celebrated Women in Music with a big party at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. Attendees included famous women in music along with famous women in fashion and then some not terribly famous women. Here’s what they wore.

No.

Carrie Keagan attends Elle's Women in Music party in New YorkTelevision personality Carrie Keagan looked like a Wet Seal mannequin circa 2003.

Kelly Rowland attends Elle's Women in Music party in New YorkWe have also seen Kelly Rowland‘s outfit on a mannequin at Wet Seal. Like her draped white shirt, though.

Jessica White attends Elle's Women in Music party in New YorkSports Illustrated face Jessica White is this week’s croptop wearer. We don’t really buy this as a cohesive look.

Stephanie Szostak attends Elle's Women in Music party in New YorkActress Stephanie Szostak (she’s the Carine Roitfeld character in Devil Wears Prada) kept things really casual. Perhaps a little too casual!

She has a cool haircut, though.

Martha Wainwright attends Elle's Women in Music party in New YorkMartha Wianwright wore a shirt presumably in reference to her brother Rufus. Even though this isn’t really a “red carpet look,” we always have to hand it to people who look like they’re actually having fun.

Harley Viera-Newton attends Elle's Women in Music party in New YorkIt Girl (?) Harley Viera-Newton wore a bold print of yellow and gray. It’s an unexpected color combination but the dress feels rather unremarkable otherwise. She paired it with a classic red pump.

Rita Ora attends Elle's Women in Music party in New YorkWe saved the best for last. Although we were not crazy about Hedi Slimane‘s debut Saint Laurent collection on the runway, we have really really liked it on the red carpet. Rita Ora adds her own distinct personality here and looks fantastic in doing so. Here’s another angle:

Sorry to be a pain, but Lala Anthony is wearing a dress from Stella McCartney’s ss13 line, not Givenchy. I’m not a fan of those dresses in general, but wearing a racer back tank top under it was a strange call.

Also, I want to look/dress/have hair like Stephanie Szostak every day. I would rock it on the red carpet, but that’s probably the one and only reason I’ve never invited.

You are totally correct re: Givenchy/Stella. That was a pre-caffeine lapse on my part.

Fair enough. I only caught it so quickly because I have been giving those weird shape dresses the side-eye for entire year. I like the concept, but they’re a little frightening to me.
