Last night, we liveblogged the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. This morning, we’re sifting through the many outrageous looks and trying to come up with ten that might reasonably be considered best. Granted, being on the best dressed list at an MTV awards show is kind of like being “one of the world’s biggest rodents.” You’re still at an MTV awards show.
…Uh. So! Here are our picks for the best dressed at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards.
Crystal Reed checked a lot of smart boxes last night: great hair, absolutely lovely makeup applied with restraint, a pretty dress, a smile. We also commend the lack of tanner.
What can we say? We like a bold print. Actress Bridgit Mendler doesn’t fuss it up with a bunch of dumb jewelry or flowing extensions, either.
Hayley Williams looked like herself and we like when people do that. Also, if Gwen Stefani wore this shit in 1997, we’d fangirl out.
Although we never need to see a pair of chunky black platforms again, we’ve decided we like Alexa Vega and her weird shorts.
Zoe Saldana wore an unusual (and way pretty) Givenchy skirt, but what we liked was the Tilda Swinton-esque move of styling it with a modern, minimal black top.
Also looking decidedly modern (in the futurism sense) was Emma Watson in Maxime Simoens. We like a watery print and Watson has a knack for tricky dresses.
Chloe Moretz looked fresh and cute in Louis Vuitton, though we could be a lot happier without the LV logo panel.
Yup. Kerry Washington in a Michael Kors mullet dress.
Say what you want about the cut, but don’t you want her to wear bold citrus colors all the time?
Jordana Brewster played it safe last night–her one-shouldered Camilla and Marc dress and Casadei pumps would have been perfect at a charity luncheon or one floppy hat away from a Kentucky Derby look.
Still, we can’t discredit someone for looking too tasteful at the MTV Movie Awards.
Speaking of tastefulness, we also can’t award Hayley Williams best dressed for “looking like herself” without doing Ke$ha the same respect. While the singer looked like an absolute crazy person last night, we’d much rather a red carpet full of Ke$has than a red carpet full of nude pumps, peplums and cutout dresses.
And there you have it.
