It’s time, everyone. The 2013 Met Gala–or, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, if you’re nasty–is upon us. While we have really, really mixed feelings about this year’s theme–Punk: Chaos to Couture–and we know most of the attendees are nervous about committing (despite our helpful styling suggestions!) this is still the biggest red carpet event of the year. Expect one or two unforgettable looks, lots of playing it safe, some real style, some real glamour and, hopefully, a whole lot of beautiful disasters.
So, per usual, we’ll be updating live throughout the red carpet. Come back and refresh often–expect new looks here every few minutes!
Let’s do this.
Jennifer Morrison, first on the red carpet. She’s wearing Donna Karan. Although we appreciate the raw-ish looking neckline and the oil blotch print, we think this is about as “punk” as most attendees will get tonight. Thankfully, we really like black!
…All right, we’re going to retire all “[first wave punk band] would have loved [oblivious rich person stuff]” before that joke starts sounding too bitter. Speaking of which…
And you know what? A for effort.
Look! Someone tried! Unfortunately for Anja Rubik, the theme was not Thriller-inspired erotic role play. :(
We know as much about sports as every attendee at the 2013 Met Gala knows about punk, but we hear this Amar’e Stoudemire fellow plays some sort of ball game with the Knickerbockers of New York City.
We like his lady friend Alexis Stoudmire‘s feathery thing because the tiniest amount of effort is going to go a long way with us tonight.
